The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released a recall announcement for five Excedrin brands on Dec. 23. The recall includes Excedrin Migraine Caplets, Excedrin Migraine Geltabs, Excedrin Extra Strength Caplets, Excedrin PM Headache Caplets, and Excedrin Tension Headache Caplets. According to the announcement, GSK Consumer Healthcare recalled these five brands for “failure to meet child resistant packaging requirement.” This is because some of the bottles can develop holes in the bottom, which could allow children to access and consume the contents, which creates a risk of poisoning. “These products contain the substances aspirin and acetaminophen which must be in child resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA),” the CPSC stated. Nearly 433,600 bottles were recalled, and they were available to purchase in various stores and pharmacies between March 2018 and Sept. 2020. The recall affects 50-, 80-, 100-, 125-, 200-, 250-, and 300-count bottles of each of the five Excedrin brands. Although no injuries have been reported so far, GSK Consumer Healthcare asks that consumers immediately store any recalled Excedrin bottles out of sight and reach of children. After doing so, you should inspect the bottom of your bottle to see if there are any holes. If you find a hole in your bottle, you can contact the company for information on how to receive a prepaid return label to ship the item back for a full refund. Approximately 48,000 allen + roth 62-inch wide 5,120-BTU infrared quartz fireplaces were recalled in early December, according to an announcement from the CPSC.
